By train

From Hanoi

From Hanoi railway station, you can take one of the following trains: SE1 (19:30), SE3 (22:00), SE5 (9:00), SE7 (6:00), and SE19 (20:05). You’ll be in Ninh Binh station after 2 hours, more or less, depending on the train timetable. Noting that the time might change a little bit, please check the schedule before you go.

From Saigon or Danang or Hue

It takes you more than 20 hours from Saigon and less from Danang or Hue, depending on the train you take, which are SE2, SE4, SE6, or SE20. Though the journey is quite long, you’ll have opportunities to contemplate the beautiful landscapes of Vietnam from South to North.

By coach

From Hanoi

It is easy to travel to Ninh Binh by coach because many car providers move from Hanoi to Ninh Binh. You just go to the bus station in Hanoi, such as My Dinh, Giap Bat, or Yen Nghia, to catch the coach. It takes about 2 hours. Some car-providers that take you to get to Ninh Binh:

From Saigon or Danang or Hue

You catch a sleeper bus from Saigon, such as Hoang Long or Hung Thanh bus at Mien Dong bus station. The journey takes about 44 hours from Saigon to Ninh Binh. If you start the trip from Danang or Hue, these sleeper buses have operation offices in town, so they will arrange the pick-up easily. 

By motorbike

From Hanoi

As the distance from Hanoi to Ninh Binh is not too far, you can take a ride on a motorbike to get to Ninh Binh. This way costs a little time and usually is suitable for the young, especially adventure-seekers. You go to Giap Bat bus station from Hanoi city center, then turn to Phap Van - Cau Gie highway. Next, you follow the direction of Phu Ly - Ninh Binh.

From Saigon or Danang or Hue

It is possible to take a motorbike from Saigon/ Danang/ Hue to Ninh Binh. However, this option is suitable for very experienced motorbike drivers due to the long distance and dense traffic. If you are not good at motorbike driving, getting to Ninh Binh by motorbike is not a good idea.

If you get to Ninh Binh from Saigon or other southern parts of Vietnam, taking a plane is the most convenient and fastest way. Regarding the central regions, getting to Ninh Binh by air or by coach is good.
