In the morning, we take a boat along the Mekong River to visit Koh Dach, also known as ‘Silk Island’. And we travel to a small village where silk weaving is their livelihood and where there is a loom under every house and we can see the weaving techniques first-hand and experience the realities of village life up close and personal. We cycle to the island’s pagoda at Wat Yeak and we pass by fruit orchards and vegetable farms on our way to the sandy beach at the north of the island, which is favored by locals from the city, for some snacks. We then return along the island’s 8-km length to the boat and ride back to the city.
In the evening, we travel back to the Tonle Sap River which famously reverses direction each year, acting as the world's largest natural flood barrier for the Mekong River for seeing a sunset cruise. We cruise past the Royal Palace compound and around the Chrouy Changvar Peninsular on to the mighty Mekong River. We cruise past small villages and see fishing boats preparing their catch. We return to Phnom Penh after dark.
