Alternative for day 2: A day at the Phnom Tamao Wildlife Alliance
This unique experience provides an in-depth insight into the work of the Wildlife Alliance team which protect Cambodia’s wildlife from the threats of poaching, trafficking, and cruelty. On arrival at Phnom Tamao Wildlife Center, we join the elephants for a walk in the forest, feed them and find out what makes them tick, and even have your very own elephant painting t-shirt, ‘trunk-painted’ while you wear it. Then it's onto the tiger enclosures and other wildlife before a visit to the usually off-limits rehab section and an opportunity to help feed one of the young residents of the center such as a baby jackal or leopard cat or play with the many mischievous baby macaques. Local lunch next to the rare hairy-nosed otter compound is followed by a visit to see the water birds and the deer section of the park to round off a one-of-a-kind experience for guests that have a passion for wildlife and its conservation.

8:30 - pick up from your hotel in Siem Reap, it’s time to get on the back of the scooter! We will be heading out of Siem Reap for a short ride to the spectacular main complex of Angkor Wat, where we will learn about this fascinating ancient civilization and admire its incredible architecture. We will start with a quick visit to the sacred Linga monument, and then ride through smaller countryside paths to see a unique pyramid-shaped Hindu temple, before riding out to the stunning Angkor Thom area. We will have a short break here at one of the imposing outer gates, enjoying some local snacks and fruit and then we will keep on visiting some quieter but still wonderful temples.
Our adventure will continue with a visit to the famous four-faced Bayon temple, riding through the huge complex walls, forest tracks, and rarely-visited rural areas. We will have lunch at a local restaurant on the banks of a peaceful lake, where we will taste some traditional Khmer dishes and a few cold drinks.
Back on our Vespas, we will ride through some dusty roads along the lake and the seemingly never-ending walls of the magical Ta Prohm, a stunning 12th-century former Buddhist University, which became pretty famous due to the ’ Tomb Raider ' movie. This ancient structure is intertwined with trees that have actually been growing through the stones over the years! It is a must-see for any budding explorer and a great way to end our adventure in the Kingdom Of Wonder.

We travel southeast to one of the largest and least-visited villages on the Tonle Sap Lake, Kompong Khleang, about 55 km from Siem Reap. It has a population of about 10,000 people, all of whom make a living from the fishing industry. In the wet season, the houses appear to be floating, as water laps at the verandas, but in the dry season towering stilts are revealed, the houses almost like wooden skyscrapers. We cruise into the open water of the great lake to see a small floating village and learn some more about this incredible natural flood barrier.
In the afternoon, we have time for an adrenaline adventure to experience ziplining with Angkor Zipline. Family‐friendly, fun, and safe, flying through the air above the jungle canopy is an exhilarating experience. The course includes 10 ziplines, including a ‘honeymoon’ tandem line, rope bridges, a treehouse, and a 15m abseil descent to navigate. They also have a nature trail and a family of wild gibbons in the jungle.
